Using Sailyn means agreeing to what follows. It is written to be read rather than skipped, and it is short because there is not much to say.
Sailyn is not medical
This is the important one. Sailyn is a productivity tool built around research on ADHD. It is not a medical device, not a treatment, and not a substitute for professional care. It does not diagnose anything and nothing in it is medical advice.
The evidence base for ADHD is medication, behavioural therapy and environmental scaffolding. Sailyn is scaffolding, one part of that, and it works best alongside the rest rather than instead of it. If you are struggling, speak to a doctor rather than an app.
Who can use it
You need to be 13 or older. If you are under 18, please check with a parent or guardian first. One account per person, and you are responsible for what happens under yours.
Your account
- Keep your password to yourself. Anyone with it can read and delete everything.
- Save the recovery code shown when you sign up. There is no email on your account, so if you lose both the password and the code, the account cannot be recovered by anyone. That is a consequence of not collecting your email, not an oversight.
- Do not use Sailyn to break the law, attack the service, or store anything you are not allowed to hold.
What the AI does and does not do
The planner is a language model. It is useful and it is also sometimes wrong. It can miscount days, misjudge how long something takes, or plan around a shop being open when it is shut.
Check anything that matters. Sailyn will not sit an exam for you and cannot be relied on as the only record of a deadline. Treat its plans as a starting point that you own, not instructions you follow.
Your data is yours
Everything you put in belongs to you. You can download it or delete it at any time from Settings. See the privacy page for exactly what is stored and who touches it.
The app itself, its design and its code remain ours.
What Sailyn measures, and what you can switch off
If you are 18 or over, two things are on unless you turn them off in Settings, under Privacy. How the app is used records which features you use and how sessions go, never anything you typed, so we can fix and improve Sailyn. Help Sailyn understand messages better keeps the words of a message Sailyn could not read on its own, with no account, name or device on them.
Google Analytics is off until you say yes. Sailyn asks once, and you can change your answer in Settings at any time. When it is on, Google learns which screens you open and which actions you take, never what you type.
If you are under 18, extra protection is always on: none of these run, and nobody you have not linked with can invite you. It switches off by itself on your 18th birthday. From 18, you can turn extra protection on or off in Settings whenever you like.

Chats
Messages you send to your buddies are encrypted on your device, and only the people in the chat can read them, with one exception you accept by using chat: the Sailyn team holds a separate key and may open a chat to stop a scam, to look into a report, or where the law requires it. Every chat the team opens is recorded. Do not use chat to harass, deceive or threaten anybody; an account that does may be closed.
What you can expect
Sailyn is free and provided as it is. There is no uptime guarantee and no promise that a feature will still exist next month. Notifications depend on Apple and Google delivering them, which is outside anyone's control here.
Keep your own backups of anything you would miss. Settings, Back up takes a few seconds.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Sailyn is not liable for lost work, missed deadlines, or anything that follows from using or not being able to use it. Where the law does not allow that limit, such as death, personal injury, or fraud, it does not apply.
Ending it
Delete your account whenever you like, from Settings. It is immediate and permanent. An account may be removed if it is used to attack the service or break the law, and if that happens you will be told why the next time you try to sign in.
Taking your data out, and what cannot come back in
Everything Sailyn holds about you can be downloaded at any time, in a readable format, without asking anyone. That is a promise and it does not change.
What you cannot do is hand that file back. If you delete your account and later make a new one, your old export will not be loaded into it, and a deleted account will not be restored from a copy you kept. This is not an inconvenience that could be removed if we felt like it. A file you hold is a file you can edit, and an export that could be loaded into a fresh account would be a way to write any history you liked into it: coins, records, a position on a public board. Everyone else on that board would have earned theirs.
So the export is yours to read, to keep, and to take somewhere else. It is not a save file. If you are unsure about deleting, download your data first and take your time.
Changes
These terms may change. Meaningful changes will be dated at the top and mentioned in the app. Continuing to use Sailyn afterwards means accepting them.
