Sailyn vs Habitica
Habitica turns your habits and to-dos into a role-playing game: you level up and earn gold as you succeed, and lose health as you fail. Sailyn is a planner in which a day off costs nothing: it picks your next task, pays you for starting and plans the week.
What Habitica does is described from its own public pages, checked on 19 September 2026. If something here has changed, write to us and it will be corrected.
Sailyn is our product; Habitica is not.

What Habitica says it does
- It treats your life as a role-playing game: completing tasks earns experience and gold, and your character levels up.
- Tasks are Habits, Dailies and To Do's. Negative habits and missed Dailies cost health points.
- Parties and Quests add other players: in a Quest, a party member's missed Dailies damage everyone.
- A setting pauses damage for missed Dailies, for a break or a holiday.
- It is open source and runs on the web, Android and iPhone.
What Sailyn does
- Takes nothing away. There is no health to lose, no streak to break and nothing that resets to zero.
- Pays for starting: coins arrive when you press Start, and coming back after two or more days away pays one and a half times an ordinary start.
- Decides what to work on: one task at a time from your deadlines and your week, and it re-plans when a day goes differently.
- Works together with nothing at stake: a shared session or a shared goal, where one person's day off costs the other nothing.
A break in Habitica, and in a party
Habitica's Pause Damage setting stops your own health loss for missed Dailies. Its FAQ is also clear that if you are in a Quest, you still take damage from your party members' missed Dailies, so a break is not a full break while you are in a party. In Sailyn there is nothing to pause, because a day off never cost anything.
Questions people ask
Is there a Habitica alternative without punishment?
That is the gap Sailyn is built for. Nothing in it goes down: coins, the harbour you build and the time you log are never taken back, a missed day costs nothing, and coming back after two or more days away pays one and a half times an ordinary start. What it does not have is Habitica's game: there are no classes, no bosses and no party to let down.
Does Sailyn have habits?
Yes, in two ways. Routines are things you tick, such as meals or a morning walk. And a weekly target counts starts rather than a run of days: you pick three, four or five days a week to start something, and every week you reach it counts. There is no daily streak to break.
Can I bring my Habitica tasks across?
Not automatically: Sailyn does not read Habitica's export file. The quicker way is to tell Sailyn in a few sentences what is coming up and let it plan from there. Your Dailies can become routines, and your habits a weekly target.
Which one fits
If a game with stakes keeps you going, Habitica describes itself as that game. If losing something on a bad day is what makes you stop, Sailyn is built so that there is nothing to lose.
This page describes both products and ranks neither. Prices and plans change often, so they are not here.
Know what you need to do, but can't get started? Sailyn gives you one next step, a plan that adapts, and no penalty for difficult days.
